Now Booking Field Trips for the 2022-23 School Year!

A unique educational experience awaits school groups visiting the Alf Engen Ski Museum at Utah Olympic Park.

This excursion explores the wonders of skiing and science, the relationship between skiing and history, and the importance of skiing to the region's economic well being.

Developed by educators, the dynamic, interactive program is founded in substantive learning activities that are aligned with the Fourth Grade Utah Core Curriculum. Well-versed museum docents convey the compelling messages via interactive computer programs and hands-on activities. Teacher-developed lesson plans and activities are designed to prepare your students for the field trip and provide a follow-up once they return to the classroom.

Program Themes

  • Technology: How ski equipment design has changed over the years to keep up with technological and scientific advances
  • Science: What the water cycle and climate change mean for Utah and its world-renowned snow
  • History: How skiing's evolution has influenced the Intermountain Region and the world
  • Economy: The growth of Park City from mining town to ski town

Please note: Because of the popularity of our field-trip program and its focus on fourth-grade curriculum, reservation priority is given to fourth grade classes, though 5th grade classes are welcome as well. The Alf Engen Ski Museum will fund transportation costs for ONE bus per school. We host one field trip per week on either Wednesday or Friday mornings. Please check the calendar for available dates.
