Graham Anderson

Graham Anderson, born in 1933, was a lifelong architect of modern alpine skiing. Rooted in his early days racing and earning lift and lunch on Sun Valley’s packing crew, Graham rose to serve the sport as one of its most dedicated global leaders. His career was defined by elite governance, serving as Chairman of the U.S. Ski & Snowboard Association and a Trustee of the U.S. Ski Team Foundation for over thirty years.

Regionally, Graham’s impact was institutional and life-saving. As CEO of Pettit-Morry Co., he revolutionized ski area risk management, establishing the gold standard for liability and safety protocols at major resorts. Internationally, he was a 40-year FIS delegate whose technical vision was instrumental in codifying the Super-G as a formal discipline and pioneering breakaway race gates to enhance athlete safety.

Deeply committed to the sport’s future, Graham served as President of the Sun Valley Ski Education Foundation, mentoring youth and expanding financial access for aspiring skiers. A Sun Valley fixture who skied Baldy every winter until the age of 86, his life’s work ensures that skiing in the American West remains competitive, safe, and community-oriented.
