Induction Year: 2020

Larry Warren

In a half-century journalism career, Larry Warren, born in 1950, chronicled the rise of skiing and winter sports in the Intermountain West

After earning a journalism degree from the University of Utah, he reported for KUTV in Salt Lake City for 27 years, including Utahโ€™s Olympic bids through the 2002 Winter Olympics and beyond. His experience expanded to an interest in the evolution of skiing and a parallel career as a ski historian, lecturer, columnist, freelance writer, and filmmaker.

Following television, Warren served as manager of Park Cityโ€™s community radio station KPCW, where the focus was frequently on skiing and tourism.ย He also became the popular emcee and voice of annual Utah ski gatherings, especially the โ€œSki Affairโ€ of the University of Utahโ€™s Marriott Library Ski Archives and the Alf Engen Museumโ€™s annual Hall of Fame Inductions.

The recipient of Ski Utahโ€™s โ€œExcellence in Ski Journalismโ€ award in 1995, Warren is also an honorary member of the Professional Ski Instructors of America/Intermountain Division.

Larry Warrenโ€™s prolific career brought the Intermountain skiing story to audiences across numerous media platforms for more than a half century.
